Academic Fresh Start Program and Acknowledgment

Academic Fresh Start allows eligible Texas residents to have college coursework completed 5 or more years before the semester of admission excluded from the admission review, as provided by Texas Education Code §51.931.

Students must submit the required acknowledgement form by the applicable admission deadline.

lmportant Information:

• Official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities are still required.
• Coursework excluded under Academic Fresh Start cannot be used toward degree requirements or to correct previous academic deficiencies.
• Previous college coursework and grades will remain listed on the student's official transcript; however, the associated credit hours and grades will not be counted.
• Academic Fresh Start may affect GI Bill or Hazlewood benefits. Students using military or veteran education benefits should contact the appropriate military or veteran services office before applying.
